Purging and pressurization is an explosion protection method (Ex p) that uses compressed air or inert gas to eliminate and prevent hazardous substances such as gas, dust, or a combination of the two, from entering the enclosure and causing a fire or explosion.

The international standards IEC 60079-2 and NFPA 496 define the regulations for purged and pressurized enclosures for the protection of electrical equipment, such as switch and control cabinets, analysis devices, and large motors.”

Work Principle
Air purge system decompress explosive air and filter into clean safe air into the cabinet. After a specified period of time to purge, the explosive gases and dust inside the enclosure can be removed, and continue to purge to maintain positive pressure, also known as minimum overpressure, so that the pressurized enclosure inside can be a safe place. energy can be applied to the ignition-capable electrical equipment within the pressurized enclosure and it can be operated normally.
The pressurized enclosure exchange air by the manual air valve(damper) and pressure-reducing valve to make the pressure inside the shell stable between 400Pa ~ 600Pa; in normal operation by the manual valve, pressure-reducing valve and throttle valve, so that the pressure inside the shell is stable between 60Pa ~ 180Pa, ensure the safety of the equipment in the hazardous area.
Equipped with an automatic exhaust device to automatically exhaust when high pressure occurs; the exhaust port is equipped with a spark particle baffle; the air purge system is also with a pointer differential pressure gauge to detect the pressure of the positive pressure chamber in real time.
The power supply of the flameproof electrical cabinet and the positive pressure enclosure are electrically interlocked. The whole positive pressure control cabinet can only be operated after the positive pressure shell has been quickly ventilated and the positive pressure has been established in the shell, the closing indicator light is on, and the main power supply is energized.

Applicable environmental conditions
The control cabinet can work normally under the following environmental conditions
- Atmospheric pressure: 80~110KPa;
- Ambient temperature: -20 ℃ ~ + 4O ℃.
- Relative air humidity: the monthly average in humid months max. lower than 90%,
- Zone 2 with Class IIC Group T4 hazardous explosive gas (or liquid, vapor)
- Zone 22 environment with Class IIIC Group T4 combustible dust environment.
- Environments with slightly corrosive gases.
- A place without severe vibration and impact.
Storage
The control cabinet should be stored in a dry, ventilated, and corrosive-free warehouse.
